looks good for 2001 - tinted visor on it is not something I've seen before.

What's the front brake mod - or is it just a cover??

front brake is just cover.

tinted visor is previous owner's creation out of windscreen from different bike.

our ride reports are posted here..
www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=489112&page=10

**it was previous owner, AJ, on DRZ that time...

Howdy all, fmj (mike) 41 from Indiana, USA checking in here!

Just purchased a (gently) used '03 DRZ 400. With gas making a run at the $4/gal mark here. I was able to convince the ways and means committee and budget committee (aka wifey) to come off the funds for a bike. 65 mpg looks A LOT better then the 10 mpg the ole Ford F-150 gets around town here. ;)

No real mods other than a Yoshimura pipe installed by previous owner. I put a trunk on it for gear or groceries. Not sure i like the look of the trunk, but i like the storage it provides. Good thing the push of a button and it comes off, eh? ;)

Looking at getting some new tires soon. Something a little more aggressive then whats on it. (the tires that are on it are about toast anywho) Most of the riding will be done on pavement here in town. But i want something that will handle sand and mud as well when the kid and i hit the trails on our camping/trouting adventures. Looking for a happy medium between streets and mudders.

Hey folks,

Just signed up, name is John or JD to my friends.

I ride a 2005 KLX400R thats in the process of being set up more for adventure touring work these days, although all the extra gear sometimes still comes off for quick blasts out in the dirt.

When I work out how to upload an image i'll post up a pic from the weekend just gone, spent the night out at Blue Waterholes in Kosciusko Nat Park.

I would have sent out a general invite to come along, but only came across this site last night.

Cheers,
JD

G'day JD,

Jump on www.canberrariders.org.au as there is now a group of us doing adventure rides now. We've done three and number four is coming end of April/start of May.

At this stage they are only day trips, coastal and Brindabella loops but we have our sights on overnighters in the future. The next one is going to be closer to home as we are finding that we are running out of daylight now.

Here's a link to the last ride...

canberrariders.org.au/threads/95023-Adventure-Ride-3-02-04-11

And yes, make sure you let us know when you are heading off on a ride, I'm always keen!
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Name - Michael
Age - 32
Bike - 2008 DRZ400E
Location - Bacchus Marsh, VIC

I have had the bike since new and love it. Ride trail, around town and more recently adventure. Most of the general mods have been done, I am still waiting for a good reason to buy a large safari tank.

Always looking for a ride. I generally like going on easier rides, going fast or up huge hills does not interest me.

Catch you on the trails
