Greetings all

I'm feeling the need to get a bike with more grunt and am looking at the DRZ
As far as I can tell they are great bikes but was reading on a blog somewhere recently
Some Kiwi guy I think it was and he had a lot of problems with bottom end bearings and stators failing all the time, so can any long term owners comment on these things for me

Thanks a lot BMSteve

I hear it was more of an issue on the older models, I did read the same article and from memory he was doing a huge amount of kilometres between oil changes and loading the bike up with a lot of gear.

I'm no expert, have barely ridden mine, but my armchair research seemed to show that the stator issue was merely one of those things you should check for peace of mind rather than an issue that would be reason enough to not buy a DRZ. It seemed to keep popping up as an issue with some earlier models but not all.

I took the cover off mine and put locktite on the bolts and expect to never have an issue (only time will tell) The dealer here sells trailer loads of those bikes out west for mustering bikes because they so low maintenance and hard to kill.....no talk of not buying them because of a stator problem.

Thanks for the reply's
I thought that was pretty well the case

I think I'll get a DRZ, pretty well ticks all the boxes for me
I'll be sorry to see my TTR250 go but no point keeping 2 such similar bikes

Cheers all

I had a TT350 for over 20 years, the DRZ is way more bike than the TT was. I reckon you won't miss the TTR although it does depend on what your intended use I guess.

Hi CJ, I'm warming a lot to the idea of a DRZ, hanging out at various forums etc...

Seeing what's available for mods and accessories is great, not a lot of stuff for the TTR but pages and pages of goodies for the DRZ, you know the DRZ is only 10kg heavier than the TTR with 15 extra horses

You know my TTR has been a great bike as a light weight easy going trail bike
with no nasty habits, but the TTR is quite different from the TT350
A ttr has no problems keeping up to a WR250 if that is a comparison for you
the WR's suspension is a bit better and I mean just a little bit and power to weight they are on a par

Thanks for the reply
Cheers

Wow, well there you go, I'm way out of touch and have never had anything to do with a TTR.
