No I dont mind you asking. getting an anwser could be different though :P

I only changed to a 15 on the front and ran standard on the rear.

It did me just fine.

I have left my front at 14 and went down three teeth on the back so that would give pretty much the same ratio as what you have.

The reason I ask is I am planning a three week ride next year.

About 6000k and am looking at all the different angles I can to make life easy.

Yep over that sorta distance you wanna make it as easy as possible.

I only changed the front simply due to cost. That and I can easily change back to the 14 on the front if i want better gearing in the bush without having to worry about chains etc.

Which i will probably end up doing as I only really plan to do the one big trip a year (atm) unless some other ride grabs my fancy.

Just for any ones info.

Going to 44 on the rear was still possible with standard chain length.

I might even try a 15 front combined with the 44 rear and see how it goes for power.

May be a cheap way to pick up a bit more top speed.
