Hi all

I am wondering if there is value in removing the air box mesh? I understand that this is a measure against a backfire. I note that the mesh is quite dense so wondering if the bike will breathe better with this removed?

Where is the mesh, I haven't crawled over every inch of my bike yet but there's no mesh between the foam and the carby on my bike that I can see.

My DRZ400E is a 2007 model Australia, and pic attached.

I don't know what they're supposed to look like but mine is just and open bore straight into the carb. It's an older '05 model though. I've never seen a bike with a mesh there to be honest, owned 3 before the DRZ and all were just an open rubber hose with no mesh. Not suggesting it shouldn't be there though.
