TOPIC: manual cam chain tensioner

manual cam chain tensioner 6 years, 4 months ago #2537

has anyone changed the auto cam chain tensioner (acct) over to the manual cam chain tensioner (mcct)? is it worth doing? i have read a lot about the auto ones failing and causing a lot of damage as the spring can let go and release all tension. I have a 2000 drz and apparently this was a common problem with the older ones.

yeh 2000 and 2001 had some fail, after all the reading i did on the topic
i opted for a genuine part.

every now and then i remove the
tensioner and count the clics to see how much the chain has streached,as it was an expensive repair for me.

at the end of the day suzuki decided a auto tensioner is the go

Hi,

I've got a automatic cam chain adjuster from a 2005 model if you want it. I switched to a manual one because my cam cam chain was stretched when I got the bike and I decieded that I wanted to control its tension.
The automatic on works fine still.
Let me know.

Cheers
